Tips & Tricks

Over the years we received emails on how people are creatively using our product and we would like to share these ideas with everyone else.  If you have a unique way of using ExpenseLog email it to us at creative@expenselog.net we would love to hear from you.

1. Using the account category feature to bill back expenses to clients

For consultants, business owners and professionals who bill back clients for expenses related to a project, create a new expense category using your client's name and start adding expenses to their category. After a certain period of time or when the project is about to finish, you can then submit the expenses to your client. For details on how to submit expenses, consult the user guide.

2. Putting in your company's standard codes for keeping track of expenses

For companies who keep track of expenses using a standard code, ExpenseLog is a perfect product to support this requirement. To show this capability, let us assume that the version of ExpenseLog that you received had the codes already built-in. All you have to do is add an expense, choose the code then input the other information.

3. Advance funds for your trip

An example of how you would manage a cash advance for an upcoming business trip: You received an advance of $2,000 for your upcoming business trip to New York. To log this in ExpenseLog, you create a new new account called "Advance" and input the expense amount as negative (-) 2000 (when adding an expense you have the option to create a new account from the menu).
